Maintenance Installation Specialist (Refractory & Mechanical)

Refractory Installation Specialist:

Refractory maintenance job is any refractory repair/replacement performed in all equipment, including:

Wrecking out of refractory in Travelling Grates, Rotary Kiln, Process Ducts, Annular Cooler, Grinding & all other equipment.

Removal and segregation of debris, cleaning & housekeeping.

Repair & rebuild existing refractory linings or construct new lining upon request, using Brick laying, Casting, Gunning, Pumping, Shotcrete or any other applicable technique in the Travelling Grates, Rotary Kiln, Process Ducts, Annular Cooler, Grinding & all other equipment.

Mobilization & demobilization of equipment, materials, consumables and manpower.

Provision and Installation of lighting in the equipment where refractory jobs will be performed.

Preparation and grinding of surface for welding of anchors, ferrules and plate angles necessary for refractory jobs.

Load & unload equipment, materials and consumables necessary to perform the refractory jobs.

Making of shuttering for gunning & casting of Refractories.

Application of ceramic fibers where required.

Preparation of detailed report covering all the repairs done, showing pictures before and after repair, mentioning specification and quantity of material applied, as well as the technique of application.

Proper fulfillment of the work orders in their corresponding blank fields.

So, the basic requirements and responsibilities for the Refractory Installation Specialist is:

Shall have minimum qualification required for the position Engineering Degree;
Shall have experience in Refractory jobs (not only planning)
Shall have a minimum experience of 08 years on refractory jobs, in a Pellet plant / Cement plant / Steel plant or any other Heavy Process industry;
Shall supervise, follow up and manage the workforce, making sure that the best practices are applied and the refractory manufacturer recommendations and guidelines for installation are properly followed.
Has to plan and coordinate jobs execution and resource allocation;
Has to run inspection of the equipment in the beginning of the shutdown and recommend the repairs that are necessary.
Has to follow-up the preparation of castables in order to make sure the right amount of water is added and the temperature does not exceed the recommended limit specified by the refractory manufacturer.
Has to follow-up the installation of bricks and pre-shaped pieces in order to make sure the right expansion joints and mortar quantity is applied.
Has to follow-up the surface preparation for casting, in order to make sure the anchors are correctly welded or installed and metallic surfaces are protected and painted.
Should submit detailed report at the end of the shutdown with description of repairs done, showing pictures before, during and after the repairs and presenting a fair analysis of the refractory failure cause and suggesting future improvements to increase the performance of refractory, to enhance application methodology and to reduce downtime.
Shall generate the required daily and monthly reports.
